Yes, or you'll be late for church tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePleeze, pleeze stop the bad people who keep yapping about the extra hour of SUNLIGHT we get tomorrow in exchange for the lost hour of sleep.
ReplyDeleteThe sun was pouring in my window to such a magnitude this afternoon, that I fled to a bedroom, pulled the shades, and covered up my head. The only way to avoid it was deep sleep.
As for me, I'll be counting down till June 21 when the days start getting shorter again.
Winter Solstice must be a time of mixed celebration and mourning for you, lfj. Dec. 21 is not only the time that the days start to get longer, it is also the shortest day of the year. June 21, on the other hand, is not only the day the daylight starts to get shorter, it is the longest day of the year. Another mixed blessing. But also my granddaughter's birthday. My grandson was born on the first day of Spring, and my granddaughter on the first day of Summer, 14 years apart.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sun loving plant myself and enjoy the light streaming through the windows. But being in the sun makes me ill, so I skirt from shade to shade when I work outside in my garden. Having a reaction to the sun like that is a symptom of lupus, but I've been tested many times and always test negative. However, I know there is really no reliable test, they pretty well diagnose symptomatically. But if I have it, it's a mild case, judging by others I know that suffer mightily from it.
But back to the subject, check your clocks. It's later than you think.
Oh yeah, all that stuff bout the Solstices. I got sun poisoning i Florida once. Yikes. There is another reason for my sun-aversion; but that's for another time.
ReplyDeleteAs for the passage of time, just consult these lyrics from They Might Be Giants (really have to be heard "sung" to be fully appreciated -- see "Malcolm in the Middle" soundtrack:
You're older than you've ever been.
And now you're even older.
And now you're even older.
And now you're even older.
You're older than you've ever been.
And now you're even older.
And now you're older still.
TIME! Is marching on.
And time.. is still marching on.
This day will soon be at an end and now it's even sooner.
And now it's even sooner.
And now it's even sooner.
This day will soon be at an end and now it's even sooner.
And now it's even sooner.
And now it's sooner still.
You're older than you've ever been.
And now you're even older.
And now you're even older.
And now you're even older.
You're older than you've ever been.
And now you're even older.
And now you're older still.
Thanks, lfj. I'll be sure to send that to my son in law at his next birthday.
ReplyDeleteyes, that would indeed be a good greeting for a Hallmark card.
ReplyDeletebtw lfj, since u so adversed to the sun, i hope u take a supplement of vitamin D.
